PROJECT: RADISSON BLU – CAPE VERDE

LOCATION: Sal – Cape Verde

YEAR: 2016

SIZE: 29.000 m2

PROGRAM: Hotel Resort

STATUS: Concept Design

CLIENT: Radisson Blu

TEAM: Jorge Castelão, Filipa Castelão, Pedro Roldão, Rui Gouveia, Catarina Crespo e  Diego Sequeira

ESSENTIAL: Conception for a resort hotel in Cape Verde. The concept of our proposal for the hotel was to create a saline.

The project is located in Sal Island, one of the most touristic Islands of Cape Verde. The parcel, bordered by the sea and a main avenue of the island has a total area of 34.000 m².

The client aimed to build a five star Radisson resort with 240 rooms, spa and a conference and meeting facility. The complex would respond not only to the holiday but also to the business needs of the visitors.

Throughout the years, the island has developed architectural constructions that ignored the local specificities.

These newly built elements have not created a connection or any kind of relationship with the history of the island or with its population.

We felt the need to create something that would relate the Hotel to the islands main feature, Salt. The concept of our proposal for the hotel was to create a saline. The buildings would be the salt crystals with water surrounding it.
